Jo Kyle, LPC, ATR
I’m Jo (they/she), a queer & non-binary therapist who specializes in working with queer, trans & neurodivergent clients, as well as individuals navigating anxiety, OCD, complex trauma, people-pleasing & more!
we might work well together if:
you’re looking for someone who is going to
show up authentically, but be direct,
validating and affirming. The hope for me is
that we will have a genuine relationship
because I am going to show up as a human
being and not the ‘blank-slate-robot-therapist’
that grad school teaches us to be. I will
probably use swear words in session (as long
as you’re comfortable with that), I’ll dress the
way I feel most comfortable and I will
probably be coloring or fidgeting along with
you if that is something you find helpful.
approaches I utilize:
Systemic
Person-Centered
Parts Work/IFS
Trauma Focused & Trauma-informed
Feminist & Social Justice Therapy
Emotion-Focused
DBT
about me, outside of therapy:
you’re navigating any of the following:
Identity exploration (queer &/or trans)
ADHD
Religious Trauma
Anxiety
OCD
Depression
Burnout/Stress
People Pleasing
It’s totally okay if none of those approaches mean anything to you! You are the expert of your life & your experiences. It is my job to help determine what might be the best fit for you. I like to tell my clients that we will do some trial & error to figure out what works best, but I always want you to tell me if you’re uncomfortable or want to try something else! The approaches that I prefer to utilize allow us to take things at your pace, look at all of the systems & environments that you are a part of and work collaboratively to help you in your healing process!
I love to spend time with my partner and our cats. Their names are Soup & Toast (I know you were wondering. Feel free to ask me questions about them). My hobbies include art making of all kinds (digital drawing and crocheting are my fav & you are more than welcome to bring your own projects into our therapy sessions), and roller derby! I am a firm believer that therapists should also go to therapy and if you become one of my clients, you might here me reference your grand-therapist (bc she’s got so much great insight!) I believe that my own personal experiences often inform how I show up for people and it is an honor that I get to help individuals through their own life stressors.

Values
The most important value to me is that my clients feel safe in & out of the therapy space. To me, that includes creating the safe therapeutic space, but it also means advocating for my clients’ rights outside of session. I believe that therapy is political because policies are affecting everyone on a daily basis. It is important to me that I utilize the privilege that I have to support social justice causes. This includes, but is not limited to; who I vote for, attending protests, contacting representatives, donating to causes, educating others, etc. In short; I aim to be an advocate for human rights of all kinds.
If you have more questions about my values, feel free to contact me!
I think it is important for you as the
client to know your therapist’s values so
that you can make an informed
decision about if they are going to be
the right fit for you and truly be an
affirming safe space for you to seek
support. This is just a glance at my
values and I am always open to
answering questions during
consultations or sessions.
